Mid-day workers demand service regularization

The second conference of the All Manipur Mid-day Meal Worker's Union today resolved to put up a demand for regularization of their posts to the state government.
Among others, the conference was attended by convener of the All India Co-ordination Committee of Mid-day Meal Workers', AR Sindhu, an MLA from Kerala, Krishna Prashad, deputy labour commissioner I Tomba, CITU, Manipur convener Kshetrimayum Shanta, AITUC general secretary Rana Pratap and president of AMMMWU, Loitang.
Other resolutions passed by conference are to press government not to privatize Mid-day Meal scheme, to recognize workers as staff of schools they were posting, to pay 12 month statuary minimum wages until they are regularize, to hike monthly honorarium, payment of honorarium regularly etc.
The conference also resolved to demand employees' service insurance, group insurance, provident fund, pension scheme and maternity leave facilities to the workers.
It also decided to submit a memorandum each to the Union minister of Human Resources Development and state Chief Minister containing their demands and to urge for translation it into work before February 23. The conference in which over 450 workers took part also resolved to march a protest rally in Imphal on March 26.
