New Delhi/Dimapur, January 30, 2011:
NSCN (I-M) chairman Isak Chishi Swu and general secretary Th.Muivah are expected to visit Nagaland to hold consultations and also, a likely meeting with NSCN (K) chairman, SS Khaplang.
However, according to sources, the proposed meeting between the two groups has not been finalized but will be held after the next round of talks with the centre.
Swu is also expected to attend the highest level meet of the forum for Naga Reconciliation, the source added.
"We are committed to an honourable, just and lasting solution," Swu told earlier in a civic reception held at Lodhi estate to welcome his return to India.
He also welcomed the government's positive attitude towards the ongoing talks between the group and the interlocutor RS Pandey.
Swu also urged the Naga people to unite and rise above the shackles of social divides to promote progress and peace in Nagaland.
Both Swu and Muivah are in New Delhi to hold the next round of talks with the government of India.
Meanwhile, in a statement NSCN(I-M) MIP said, the Naga people, despite apprehensions, were hoping that the government of India with utmost sincerity and strong political will would take positive steps in the coming round of talks.
It expressed apprehension that indecisiveness in the talks would create more commotion, turmoil and breach of trust between the two parties.
"Solution reached at the expense of the Naga political and historical realities will also lead both the parties back to square one," it said.
The focal point was how and what kind of steps the government of India was going to take with regard to the long-drawn current "Indo-Naga" peace process, MIP said.
It was pointed out that the talks in Delhi were held only when the collective leadership was invited by the government of India and this time too, Swu had come to Delhi to have mutual understanding and discussion for taking concrete step.
The NSCN (I-M) appreciated the government of India for taking all troubles in making the chairman's trip save and sound in spite of hurdles here and there.
However, the NSCN (I-M) also express unhappiness over the "carrot and stick policy" adopted by the government of India.
It lamented that while the collective leadership was accorded "warm hero welcome," their subordinate leaders and officers were deliberately branded as criminals.
The NSCN (I-M) cited the arrests of 'deputy kilonser' Koningam and 'Maj.
Gen.' Ningkhan Shimray by the Indian armed forces while they were on their way to Delhi for talks on different occasions.
It said that the situation in 'Nagalim' was being watched by the whole world.
