A seminar on 'Rabindranath Tagore: 21st Centuryna Hangatna Yengba' was held today at State Guest House, Sanjenthong, Imphal.
The Writers' Forum, Imphal organised the seminar in association with Sahitya Akademi, New Delhi to commemorate the 150th Birth Anniversary of Rabindranath Tagore.
Retired Vice Chancellor, Bidyasagar University, West Bengal Amuya Dev and President, Writers' Forum, Imphal Aribam Kumar graced the function as chief guest and president.
Participants read out poems written by Rabindranath Tagore in both Bengali and Manipuri translation.
Speaking in the occasion, Amiya Dev said that Rabindranath Tagore did what he could for Manipur.
He invited Tomba from Manipur to teach Manipuri traditional dance in his Santiniketan.
Many poems and dramas of Rabindranath Tagore reflected the radicals of Manipuri dance.
Professor Elangbam Dinamani was the moderator of the first session in which Amiya Dev and Longjam Joychandra presented papers on Rabindranath Tagore.
In the second session IS Kanjgam was the moderator and Khangjirakpam Kunjo and Lamabam Gojendro presented papers on different subjects.
