Consultation on International humanitarian laws held

Thoubal, January 17 2015 :
A one day consultative programme on "International Humanitarian Law and Right to Life" was jointly organised by District Women Committee of United NGOs Mission-Manipur (UNM-M) and All Tribal Students' Union Manipur (ATSUM) at Lokhijang Primary School, Sugnu today.
Resource persons of the consultation included Babloo Loitongbam, director, Human Rights Alert; Shangnaidar Tontang, chief functionary of Weaker Section Development Committee (WSDC) and Romeo Bungdon, general secretary, All Manipur Tribal Union (AMTU) .
The resource persons deliberated on various topics ranging from armed conflicts law, AFSPA, right to life, participation of women in governance and tribal land protection rights.
A part from sharing of views and opinions among, the participants, recommendations were also made on how to address Various grievances on human rights violation for better human dignity of future the society.
V Shatsang, general secretary ATSUM; Hechin Haokip, secretary, Centre for Women and Girls (CWG) & Convener of District Women Commit-tee-UNM-M, Chandel; Vum Khongsai, president of Thadou Students' Association, Chandel and Vincent Zo, president ZSP also attended the programme besides several key Church and community leaders and village chiefs.
