Imphal, January 17 2015 :
The joint action committee (JAC) demanding justice for the killing of Md Firoz has called a 24-hour bandh along Thoubal section of National Highway (NH)-2 beginning 6 am on Sunday.
Announcing the strike at a press meet here, JAC convenor Kh Zakir Hussain said the strike has been called to impose a bandh along the NH-2 in Thoubal district.
The bandh has been called to register protest against the Manipur Government which has shown indifferent attitude towards the killing.
Md Firoz, a father of four, was found dead on the night of January 15 at Khangabok Keithel in Thoubal district.
Media reports had said he was beaten to death by a mob at the market complex.
Zakir Hussain said the JAC will submit a memorandum to the CM and claimed that Md Firoz was murdered in cold blood, and that it was politically motivated and well-planned killing.
"The CBI should be allowed to probe the case," he demanded.
Hussain demanded the Manipur Government to arrest all accused in the killing at the earliest.
The Government should pay an ex-gratia amount of Rs 10 lakh and a Government job to the next of kin, he said.
