Imphal, January 17 2015 :
The proscribed PLA has claimed that its cadres attacked and inflicted heavy casualty on Assam Rifles troops at Machi junction, Chandel district under Tengnoupal police station on January 14 .
The attack upset celebration of the Indian Army Day in Manipur on January 15, the outfit alleged.
At around 10.30 pm of January 14, PLA cadres attacked a combined team of 24 AR and 20 AR at Machi junction on the road connecting Sita village to Khoibu Centre using bombs, assault rifles, UMG, M-79 and RPG.
The attack was carried out by the PLA's Tactical Command as a part of its Operation Willy Civet, said a press statement issued by the outfit's Publicity Secretary Roben Khuman.
PLA cadres were already lying in ambush when the combined AR troops reached Machi junction.
Then two mines and 12 Claymores were set off one after another in three phases.
The attack killed many AR personnel in addition to injuring scores of others.
Simultaneously, another team of PLA cadres was lying in ambush in a hill slope (2429'40.94"N, 9410'34.71"E) when AR troops climbed up the hill slope.
In the next moment, the cadres unleashed a volley of fire using assault rifles, UMG, M-79 and RPG.
The surprise twin attack at the very gate of the Company Operating Base of 20 AR stunned the Indian military forces and all the personnel fled away helter-skelter.
The PLA's simultaneous twin attack killed many AR personnel and injured several others.
The dead and injured personnel were evacuated using five ambulances and helicopters.
Officers of IG AR (S), 57 Mountain Division and intelligence agencies must be knowing the details of the AR personnel killed in the attack apart from the respective families.
Moreover, AR personnel who are posted together with the slain personnel must be worrying whether their names would be covered up forever in case they get killed under similar circumstances, the outfit said.
Even as the Indian military employed all available resources including paratroopers, Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV), helicopters and infantry, they could not outwit the PLA cadres.
Rather than celebrating the Indian Army Day, AR personnel were busy receiving dead bodies of fellow personnel and in hunting PLA cadres.
It is a matter of shame that the Indian.
military officers chose not to honour their subordinate military personnel who were killed in the battle.
When Indian military officers chose to cover up names of their own men who got killed in battles, it was no surprise; that many innocent civilians disappeared without any trace after they were picked up by security forces.
This is a clear testi mony of India's covert war in Manipur, it alleged.
For the successful strike, the PLA's Chief of Army Staff has commended all those cadres of the Tactical Command ;who planned and carried out the attack, as well as all those people who provided logistic support, it conveyed.
