KRA extorts, money collector held

Imphal, October 10 2012:
The Kuki Revolutionary Army (KRA), which is a signatory of Suspension of Operation (SoO), a tripartite agreement involvement Government of India, Manipur Government and Kuki UG groups, allegedly extorted Rs 1.5lakhs from a shopkeeper in Senapati town recently.
Meanwhile, the Senapati Police have arrested a money collector of KRA from Senapati town at around 3:30 pm yesterday.
According to Police reports, following specific information, Senapati District Police conducted a search operation in Senapati town parking area and apprehended a money collector of KRA.
The arrested person has been identified as one Raju Bhandari (27), s/o Om Bhandari of Nepali Taphou Part I.He is an auto-driver by profession.
After intensive interrogation of the arrested person, it was revealed that KRA demanded an amount of Rs 1.5 lakhs to a hardware shop in Senapati bazaar.
The said amount had been taken from the hardware shop by Raju Bhandari and handed over to KRA.
Raju received a sum of Rs 500 for the work.
The Senapati Police has filed a case in the regard.
