National seminar on education held at MU

A one-day national seminar on 'New Dimension of Higher Educa-tion' was jointly organised by Azim Premji University, Bangalore and Manipur University at the varsity's court hall today.
speaking at the occasion, works Minister Dr Kh Ratankumar expressed that as study at the higher secondary level is more elaborate there is urgent need to focus on improving the higher education system in Manipur.
Apart from academics, higher secondary and university stage provide opportunity to the students to share their respective views on varied issues, noted the Minister who also advised the students to strive for excellence and compete with their peers.
In his address, MU Vice chancellor Prof HNK Sarma prevailed upon the student community to imbibe competitive spirit in all spheres of life.
The first session of the seminar held with Prof W Nabakumar Singh as the chairman had Prof Amar Yumnam deliberating on 'Globalization of Higher Education', while Prof N Lokendra Singh talked on 'Recent Trends in Higher Education', Prof N Rajmuhon Singh on 'Current Trends of Research Activities in India', Prof GP Prasain on 'Challenges and Opportunities in Higher Education', and Azim Premji University's Prof Reshmi Mitra on Higher Education 2025', as the resource persons.
The afternoon session was held with Prof Reshmi Mitra as the chairperson.
As resource persons, Prof W Nabakumar elaborated on 'Value-based Higher Education', Prof S Lokendrajit Singh on 'Higher Education and the Emancipation of Mind', Dr RK Yaiskul Singh on 'Government's Role in Higher Education', and Prof Th Ratankumar Singh on 'Privatization of Higher Education' .
