Imphal, October 10 2012:
The All Hill Districts Education Guarantee Scheme (EGS) Teachers' Union, Manipur has warned of launching several forms of agitation if the Government authority fails to absorb all volunteer teachers under EGS as primary teachers within October.
Addressing media persons today at Tampha Hotel, president of the union, Trimson Saka said many volunteer teachers were appointed under EGS in villages where there are no schools in the hill districts in 2004.He said the recruitment of volunteer teachers was done through proper DPC.
The Government had then promised to upgrade the schools established under EGS to primary school besides promising that volunteer teachers should be regularised, Trimson said.
He lamented that the volunteer teachers were ignored while the schools were upgraded to Primary Schools.
The volunteer teachers have been enjoying a meagre amount of Rs 1000 per month since their appointment in 2004, Trimson said while strongly condemning the Government authority for underestimating the right to life of those volunteer teachers who suffered all throughout the years.
He further warned that various forms of agitation would be launched if the Government authority fails to absorb/regularise the volunteer teachers by October.
