AR Pavilion at Sangai Festival

40 Assam Rifles of 9 Sector AR under the aegis of HQ IGAR (South) established an Assam Rifles pavilion in the recently concluded Sangai festival, for creating awareness among local populace.
According to a statement issued by PRO IGAR (S), the stall was established to showcase the history and contribution of Assam Rifles in Manipur.
Being the oldest Para Military force of the country, Assam Rifles is assigned with Roles of Internal Security, Border Guarding, Military Civic Action and has been carrying out numerous developmental activities in Manipur over the years.
The Pavilion was aimed to impart knowledge to youth regarding the various avenues/ways and means to join Assam Rifles and Army.
Nearly 5000 youths showed interest and about 1000 of them registered for further recruitment into Assam Rifles.
As a token of appreciation, memento - pens inscribed with "Assam Rifles - Friends of Manipur", and broachers providing information regarding recruitment were distributed to the public by Assam Rifles authorities.
Among the Dignitaries that visited the Assam Rifles Pavilion, CM of Mandalay Mr U Ye Myint, CM of Saigang Region Mr U Thar Ay (Myanmar), CM of Manipur Mr O Ibobi Singh, Lt Gen Sanjeev Chopra, AVSM, SM, DG SD (from Army HQs), Maj Gen Rajeev Chopra, IG AR(South), Brig M K Das, SM**, VSM, were prominent apart from various other Dignitaries of other Para Military Forces who visited the stall and appreciated the work done by Assam Rifles in Manipur.
