Imphal, June 29 2021:
Several Islamic scholars have appealed to Islamic followers of the state to get vaccinated, adding that getting the Covid-19 vaccine is not against the religion and also the vaccine was approved by the government after proper consultation with experts.
Addressing a press meet held in its office at Hatta Minuthong on Tuesday, Waqf Board chairman and ex-minister Md Abdul Nasir said that the government has been working hard to protect the people from the pandemic.
However, some people from the Muslim community have been spouting nonsense claiming that getting the vaccine is against Islam.
As such, the press meet was organised by Islamic scholars to dispel all such misinformation, he added.
Islami scholar Khurshid, who is also the secretary of Islamic Cultural Research Organisation, said that said that the government and various experts have been working tirelessly to take control of the pandemic, including organising mass vaccination programmes.
However, some unscrupulous people have been uploading on social media posts false claims about the vaccine.
Unfortunately, many people believe such lies and are refusing to get vaccinated, thereby hindering the government's efforts to put an end to the pandemic.
"According to Islam, the vaccine could be considered a medicine.
As per Prophet Mohammad, all diseases have a medicine and as such, Covid vaccine is a medicine for Covid-19.The present vaccine has been approved by experts after many trials.
Even Mecca, the holiest place for Islam religion, is now able to control the pandemic after having all of the nearby residents vaccinated", he conveyed.
All Manipur Madrasa Federation general secretary Mufti Salatur, who also attended the press meet, said that several sections of the Muslim community are apprehensive of the vaccine due to religious reasons.
However, Prophet Mohammad has said that every disease is given by him and as such, there will be cure for every disease.
The present apprehensions was seen when the vaccine for small pox was introduced.
However, everyone was able to survive after getting vaccinated.
Similarly, some people who are not well versed with Islam are making unreasonable claims.
Thus, he urged fellow Islam followers to get vaccinated, adding that others will also follow suit.
