Imphal, June 29 2021:
Former corporator of Imphal Municipal Corporation (IMC), Hijam Nutanchandra has urged the Government to constitute an adhoc committee of IMC to aid in the fight against the pandemic as the corporation has been dissolved on completion of its term.
Speaking to the media at IMC office today, Hijam Nutanchandra said the last election of IMC was conducted in 2016 and it was dissolved on June 15, 2021 after completion of its term.
As the election of IMC is yet to be scheduled, the corporators would like the Government to constitute an adhoc committee and delegate some duty to them as the State is reeling under the second wave of the pandemic, he added.
The 7 ACs under IMC are also some of the most affected constituencies in the State, he added.
The Government has been doing everything in their capacity to contain the virus and the corporators have also been extending their unhindered support in the fight against the pandemic and will continue to work for the welfare of the people during such trying times even after the completion of its time, he added.
Hijam Nutanchandra sought the attention of the Chief Minister to look into the matter and do the needful in this regard.
