Bogus appointment

Duty Magistrate Imphal West has remanded the three accused who were arrested from the campus of Regional Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS) Imphal yesterday with a bogus appointment letter for the post of cook of the institute to police custody.
The accused Wangkheimayum Boy (28) s/o (L) Yaima of Wangkhei Meihoubam Lampak, currently staying at Pangei Lairam Mapal, Aribam Rajo Sharma (53) s/o Ibobi of Keirao Wangkhem Maning Leikai and Hanjabam Gourachandra (54) s/o (L) Brajamohan of Wangkhei Ayangpalli Kongba Laishram Leikai were arrested yesterday and produced before the Court along with a prayer for their 4 days police custody remand.
The IO of the case through APP submitted that at around 5 pm yesterday, Administrative Officer of RIMS lodged a complaint that at around 3 pm of the same day, Aribam Rajo Sharma and Hanjabam Gourachandra had reported her of the fake appointments which were issued by Wangkheimayum Boy for the selection of cook of RIMS.
The complainant further stated that RIMS Imphal has not issued any appointment notification of such a kind.
On preliminary interrogation, Wangkheimayum Boy revealed that in March 2021 one Mayengbam Premkumar of Yaingangpokpi with his friend Jiten of Heinoupok asked him to search for candidates who wanted to apply for the post of cook at RIMS Hospital.
Saying that he contacted Aribam Rajo Sharma and Hanjabam Gourachandra and took Rs 30 thousand from them for the posts, the IO added that the amount was handed to Premkumar on June 16 last.
The bogus appointment notifications for the posts were handed over to Aribam Rajo Sharma and Hanjabam Gourachandra on the same day (June 16), the IO added.
It is said that Aribam Rajo Sharma and Hanjabam Gourachandra were also asked to join the office from August onwards.
The duo came to know that they were duped only when they came to enquire about the selection at RIMS.
The IO further submitted that Mayengbam Premkumar and Jiten are yet to be arrested in connection with the case and prayed for remanding the arrested three to 4 days police custody for smooth investigation of the case.
The Court after hearing and on perusal of the case record and other material placed remanded the accused to police custody till July 2 .
