CM reviews Covid situation in CDL, TML

Chief minister N Biren Singh on Friday visited Chandel district headquarters to take stock of COVID-19 situation in Chandel and Tengnoupal districts.
He had been visiting various districts of the state to review the situation of the pandemic and take up necessary measures to contain it.
During the review meeting held at Mini Secretariat, Chandel, the deputy commissioners (DCs) of Chandel and Tengnoupal districts made a brief presentation on the cumulative status of the COVID-19 situation and their efforts to contain its spread.
The chief minister, after having a proper look at the presentation made by the DCs, assured to make possible arrangements to meet necessities required for fighting the pandemic in their districts.
Stating that the government is working on its mission to ensure no loss of lives from COVID-19, N Biren also stressed on the need to take up timely measures to check infection and fatalities from the second wave of the pandemic in the districts.
He continued that he had been visiting certain districts, where many small communities reside, to show that the government is always with the people at the time of hardship.
He informed that an oxygen plant would also be installed soon in Chandel district to ensure no shortage of oxygen supply and added the necessary materials for setting up the plant had already been brought to the state for the purpose.
He instructed the chief medical officers (CMOs) of the two districts to timely send their staff to monitor home isolation patients.
If case any patient does not have proper amenities for home isolation, he or she should be brought to the nearest COVID Care Centre to prevent the spread of virus to other family members, he added.
The CM also reiterated that necessary items like medicines and pulse oximeters among others would be provided to home isolation patients and asked the CMOs concerned to take the requirements from the Health Directorate.
Informing that the government had earlier launched Manipur State Mental Health Helpline (104 or 1800-345-3833) to provide psychological support, N Biren instructed the DCs present to take up steps to make the public aware of certain Helpline numbers.
The chief minister also appealed to the public not to believe in any rumours regarding the pandemic other than those declared by the scientific community of the country.
He also urged people to support the mass testing which will commence soon and to strictly adhere to the Standard Operating Procedures issued by the government.
Water Resources minister Letpao Haokip, Education minister Sorokhaibam Rajen, advisor to chief minister (Health) Dr Sapam Ranjan, MLA D Korungthang, MLA M Rameshwar, principal secretary V Vumlunmang and other government officials attended the review meeting among others.
During his visit to the district, the chief minister also inaugurated School Fagathansi at Maha Union Higher Secondary School located at Japhou village.
He also inaugurated the Chamdil Town Hall at Chandel town which was constructed by Manipur Police Housing Corporation Limited.
Earlier, on his way to Chandel, the CM inspected the project of widening and strengthening of two laning with hard shoulder along the Pallel-Chandel section from Km 0.00 to Km 18.292 of NH-102C on EPC mode under NHIDCL, Government of India.
He further instructed the implementing agency to complete the project before the year ends.
