Rice distributed free of cost to poor people in Chandel

Kakching, August 27 2014: Considering the plight of the poor and needy villagers, Tongsin Beton, Vice-President of Kishan Morcha, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Manipur Pradesh distributed rice free of cost to the poor villagers at Japhou Bazar in Chandel District Headquarters today.

The rice distribution programme organised by BJP Chandel Mandal was attended among others by Th.Nabachandra, President of Kishan Morcha BJP Manipur Pradesh; W.Ibomcha, State Convenor of Sports Cell BJP Manipur Pradesh; Ts.

Konal, Vice-President of BJP Chandel Mandal; Tongsin Beton, Vice-President of Kishan Morcha BJP Manipur Pradesh; HB.

Joseph, President of Kisan Morcha BJP Chandel District and HB.

Domtin, President of Mahila Morcha BJP Chandel.

Rice distributed free of cost to poor people in Chandel

During programme, 10 kg of rice per head was distributed free of cost to 350 villagers who were below poverty line and were selected from 45 different villages in and around the District Headquarters.

While speaking on the occasion, Tongsin Beton said that the distribution of rice was done after considering the plight of the poor families who were living from hand to mouth.

Many farmers and agricultural labourers of the district faced problems owing to scanty rainfall in hill district.

As such, rice was distributed free of cost to them so that it may at least provide some relief to them.

An elderly woman who came to collect rice told media persons that this was the first time in the district that rice was distributed free of cost to poor families.

She also expressed gratitude to Tonsing Beton and other members of the Bharatiya Janata Party for providing rice free of cost to the poor and needy villagers.
