Detention of Irom Sharmila denounced

Imphal, August 27 2014:
Denouncing the arbitrary detention of Irom Sharmila Chanu two days after she was released from jail on August 20, 2014 by order of the District and Sessions Judge, Manipur East, the Observatory for the Protection of Human Rights Defenders, which is a joint programme of the World Organisation Against Torture (OMCT) and the International Federation for Human Rights (FIDH), has urged the Indian authorities to put an end to this arbitrary detention.
