Phungyar rues Govt apathy

Villagers of Phungyar Sub-Divisional, Ukhrul expressed strong resentment to the State Government for neglecting the area regarding development works and non-functional of Government offices.
The Phungyar Sub-Division was establishment in 1959 .
A villager told a visiting media team that no Government staff, except locals, stationed at the Sub-Division although they showed up only during National celebrations and special programmes.
The road leading to Phungyar headquarters from Shangshak at the stretch of about 15-20 km is now in a deplorable state.
The road has many pot holes and waterlogging areas.
The newly constructed SDO office complex has two Type-IV quarters and one Type-II quarter and a PHC.
The SDO office is yet to be shifted to the new building which was inaugurated in 2012 .
However, villagers appreciated local MLA Victor Keishing for the development works taken up under his initiative.
The PHC and PHSCs are facing lots of inadequacies, a villager said and added that PDS agent distributes rice at the lump sum rate of Rs 15 per kg.
Phungyar High School was upgraded to a higher secondary school in 2009, however, the school neither has a regular Principal nor adequate teachers.
