DESAM has demanded on Wednesday that the Computer Teacher of St Joseph's School Sangaiprou should be sacked for his involvement in the beating of a Class 6 student of the school.
Meanwhile, 17 volunteers of Democratic Students' Alliance of Manipur (DESAM) including its president have been detained by police in connection with the stalemate with the Computer Teacher of St Joseph's School, Sangaiprou,
sources said.
The victim student was subjected to beating by Computer Teacher Rupachandra over a simple word 'yes,' claimed president DESAM Moirangthem Angamba at the alliance office here.
He said that during a computer class the teacher asked the students 'Will you maintain silence,' to which the students present in the class simply answered 'yes' .
However, the teacher contended that the sentence was 'Can't you maintain silence?' Angamba said and rejected the argument.
Rupachandra took as many as 51 slapshots on the young student for the answer, he insisted.
The erring teacher was asked to settle the matter with DESAM but he refused, Angamba said.
He said the protest staged by the teaching staff and students of the school was not rational and demanded the school authority to remove the Computer Teacher from the job.
Sources said DESAM edified the Computer Teacher in connection with the incident.
