Shija Clinical Laboratory has become the first National Accreditation Board for Testing and Calibration Laboratories accredited hospital based laboratory in Manipur.
The laboratory has services like clinical biochemistry, clinical pathology and haematology, said a statement.
The process of NABL accreditation began on September 14, 2014 with the submission of an application in this regard, the statement said and added that it was followed by pre-assessment by NABL on November 21 and 22 this year.
The accreditation was granted on June 13 last after a final assessment was conducted by a group of assessors on March 13 and 14 this year, the statement said.
NABL accreditation is granted in due recognition of the technical competence of testing, calibration or medical laboratory for a specific task following ISO/IEC 17025:2005, ISO 15189:2007 standards.
NABL accreditation is the only quality assurance tool to the patients or customers, the statement said and added that it gives confidence to customers in availing the services.
The test results from NABL accredited laboratories are accepted Nationally and internationally.
Shija Clinical Laboratory has developed a system called critical values call back protocol.
Critical values, also known as panic or alert values, are laboratory results that indicate life threatening situation for the patient, the statement said.
