Humanitarian support for conflict affected people

Imphal, June 17 2015 :
Women Action for Development in collaboration with Action Aid and ECHO organised a one day Alliance Building workshop on humanitaranian support to people of 25 villages in Thoubal District affected by conflict in Manipur on Wednesday at Youth Hostel Khuman Lampak.
The alliance is looking towards providing support on the mental and psychological trauma arising due to prolonged armed conflict.
WAD also claimed to have provided livelihood support to 50 affected individuals mostly women who are directly or indirectly affected by the conflict.
It is also informed that according to a survey conducted in the villages of Thoubal all the rich people used to get either BPL or AAY card contrary to the guidelines under targeted public distribution system to provide the ration card only to the really poor and vulnerable section of society.
Besides it is also alleged that MGNREA work in some Thoubal villages is misleading and the assured 100 days work is downsized to just 10 to 20 days.
It is also informed that the Pradhan even used to keep bank passbook belonging to job card holders.
Moreover the CHC, PHC and PHSC only do routine work, claimed WAD.
