TPR bounces back, fresh cases increase

After witnessing gradual dip in daily test positivity rate since the beginning of the current month, the TPR bounced back by 0.59 per cent on Wednesday as government bulletins reported 188 fresh Covid-19 cases out of 2244 samples tested in the last 24 hours, registering a positivity rate of 8.38 per cent against 7.79 per cent recorded on Tuesday.
Wednesday also reported two death cases which took the toll to 2074 .
They were residents of Imphal East and Ukhrul districts.
One of them had received second dose of Covid vaccine while the other was unvaccinated.
Till date, the virus has claimed lives of 175 vaccinated people including 51 who had taken double doses of the vaccine.
In the last 24 hours, 235 patients were discharged from home isolation (181), RIMS (11), JNIMS (9) and CCCs (34).The active caseload came down to 3555 out of which 718 (20.20 per cent) are in home isolation.
There are 237 vacant beds available in JNIMS and 122 in RIMS.
Out of the 16 districts, only three did not report any fresh Covid cases on Tuesday.
So far, the state has recorded 9570 positive cases and 72 fatalities since the beginning of the third wave of the pandemic.
The current month has reported 2102 new positive cases and 28 fatalities.
The weekly number of new cases and new fatalities are 1453 and 21 respectively.
According to official reports, the 188 fresh'cases included 186 people (70 male & 116 female) from among the general population and two personnel of Central Armed Police Force (CAPF) whose samples were confirmed at RIMS (12), JNIMS (14) and other testing centres (162) .
The positive cases from among the general population are from Imphal East (50), Imphal West (61), Thoubal (11), Bishnupur (17), Kakching (9), Kangpokpi (1), Tamenglong (11), Tengnoupal (2), Ukhrul (8), Noney (2), Senapati (4), Chandel (2) and Churachandpur (10) .
The cumulative number of positive cases has reached 1,35,358 (general population - 130,367 and CAPF personnel - 4,991).Number of recovered cases is 1,29,729 (general population - 1,24,853 and CAPF personnel - 4,876) and number of active cases is 3555 (general population - 3447 and CAPF personnel - 108).The recovery rate is 95.84 per cent.
A total of 264 D-type and 63 B-type Oxygen cylinders have been made available to different health facilities in the last 24 hours.
A total of 9826 vaccine doses were administered on Tuesday taking the cumulative number of vaccinated individuals to 14,69,590 out of which 10,85,648 have got second doses and 43,188 precautionary doses.
As per data maintained by The People's Chronicle based on IDSP and CCR reports, number of total cases in different districts are Imphal West (48127), Imphal East (30058), Thoubal (10022), Churachandpur (10960), Kangpokpi (3086), Tamenglong (3427), Bishnupur (9673), Senapati (2439), Ukhrul (3191), Kakching (6789), Chandel (2666), Noney (1139), Tengnoupal (1178), Jiribam (1109), Kamjong (1029) and Pherzawl (465).Fatality counts in different districts are Imphal West (692), Imphal East (499), Thoubal (184), Churachandpur (166), Kangpokpi (65), Tamenglong (15), Bishnupur (200), Senapati (11), Ukhrul (49), Kakching (120), Chandel (42), Noney (5), Tengnoupal (14), Jiribam (7), Kamjong (5) and Pherzawl (0) .
Data analysed by this daily shows that the rate of infection remains 43,622 confirmed cases per million population (based on projected population of 31,03,000 as per NCP report) against the national average of 30,256 CPM.
Test rate has improved to 4,98,072 tests per million population against the national average of 5,31,252 TPM.
Case fatality rate stands at 1.53 per cent.
In the past 24 hours, only 2244 samples were tested and the single day positivity rate was 8.38 per cent while the cumulative positivity stands at 8.76 per cent.
