Committee on Protection of Land in Border fencing (CPLBF), Manipur has extended its heartfelt gratitude to all the people of Manipur, irrespective of tribe and community, for their support to the 12-hour general strike called al over Manipur yesterday.
In a statement issued by its Convenor, the Committee acknowledged that the invaluable moral and physical support extended by all sections of the people specially a few political parties, all the transport organisations, All Manipur School Vans' Association, street vendors' association, market women's organisations, schools, colleges, autorickshaw drivers' associations, labour unions, etc, made the strike total and completely peaceful.
The people's spontaneous response to the general strike called by CPLBF clearly showed that people would never remain silent whenever it comes to the question of losing Manipur's land or redrawing Manipur's map, the Committee said.
The Committee observed that Monday's 12-hour general strike was only the beginning of a long series of agitations that will be organised by it with people's support in the days to come, if the State Government and the Centre remain indifferent towards the people's demand of conducting resurvey and redemarcation of the Indo-Myanmar boundary (Manipur sector) as early as possible.
Meanwhile, any effort to continue the construction of the border fencing, so called security fencing in Moreh area should be stopped, it demanded.
The Committee has also encouraged those are interested in giving suggestions or working together with it in relation to the issue to contact mobile phone nos.+91-9856088732 and +91-8732032963 any time.
