Imphal, October 08 2013 :
The Committee on Protection of Land in Border Fencing (CPLBF), Manipur has said today that the 12 hour strike yesterday was only the beginning of a long series of agitation that would be spearheaded by CPLBF with the support of the people in the days to come if the State and Central Govt remain adamant to the people's demand of conducting resurvey and re-demarcation of the Indo-Myanmar boundary (Manipur sector) as early as possible.
Acknowledging the contribution and assistance of all concerned for the success of the 12-hour general strike on Monday, a statement issued by the convenor of CPLBF strongly demanded that any effort to continue the construction of the border fencing or so called security fencing in Moreh area should be stopped.
The people's spontaneous response to the general strike called by CPLBF clearly showed that the people would never remain silent whenever it comes to the question of losing Manipur's territory or redrawing her map, said the statement.
