Perturbed over the frequent fatal road mishaps that occur along the three kilometres stretch of Tedim Road from Molnom to Khengjang-Vajing, the Kuki Senior Citizens' Welfare Forum, (KSCWF) Churachandpur has urged Works and Transport Minister, Dr Kh Ratankumar to take up measures to prevent such accidents and the consequent fatalities.
In a memorandum, the KSCWF brought to the notice of the Works and Transport Minister that over 15 major accidents that claimed the lives of over 20 people have occurred along the 'accident-prone' stretch during the past five years.
Keeping in mind the gravity of the situation, the KSCWF urged the Works and Transport Minister to take the matter seriously and initiate necessary actions at appropriate levels on a war footing.
The KSCWF representation signed by its Chairman Elder Holthang Mate and Elder T Haokip also listed the details of accidents that occurred along the stretch during the past five years as per records maintained by Ccpur PS and Kuki Khanglai Lawmpi, a philanthropic organisation.
