1998 samples tested, 185 infected, four die

Imphal, September 06 2021: Contrary to almost all sectors/activities opening up in the state, the daily testing capacity has been showing a declining trend in-spite of the state experiencing high positivity rate.

On Monday, government bulletins reported only 1998 samples being tested out of which 185 were found positive, registering a positivity rate of 9.26 per cent against 9.22 per cent recorded on Sunday.

Though the positivity rate remained in the single digit, Chandel district recorded 20.5 per cent positivity rate and Imphal West (11.5 pc), Kakching (16.4), Noney (17.2) and Ukhrul (15.4 pc) districts recorded double digit positivity rate while Imphal East (9.9 pc), Bishnupur (8.8), Churachandpur (7.1) and Tamenglong (8.2 pc) districts recorded single digit yet on the higher side of positivity rate.

On the other hand, four death cases were reported on Sunday and they were from Bishnupur (1), Imphal East (2) and Imphal West (1) districts.

The cumulative number of deaths has now reached 1802.Out of the four victims, one did not have any co-morbid conditions while two had received first dose of Covid vaccine and one both doses.

So far, 96 vaccinated individuals including seven fully vaccinated persons have died of Covid-19 .

The active caseload reduced to 3180 out of which 886 (27.86 per cent) are in home isolation, 1100 (34.59 per cent) in CHICs, 689 (21.67 per cent) in CCCs and 505 (15.88 per cent) in hospitals.

Among the hospitalised patients, 107 are admitted to ICU/HDU wards, 146 are on oxygen support and 44 on ventilator support.

However, there is no report on the number of patients on oxygen and ventilator support from JNIMS,"71and Hospital and LFS Covid Treatment Centre even though these facilities have 169, 17 and 15 patients respectively.

At the same time, 11 patients are also on oxygen support in different CCCs.

As of Monday evening, 544 beds including 96 ICU/HDU beds are available in different hospitals.

There is no updated information on bed vacancy in other facilities but as of Sunday evening 2778 beds were available in different CCCs, and 333 beds (21 ICU/HDU) in district hospitals and CHCs.

So far, the state has recorded 86,184 positive cases and 1428 fatalities since the beginning of the second wave of the pandemic, out of which 2033 new cases and 21 fatalities were added in the last seven days alone.

According to official reports, all the 185 new positive cases (85 male & 100 female) were from among the general population and their samples were tested at RIMS (2), JNIMS (9) and other testing centres (174) .

The positive cases are from Imphal East (35), Imphal West (68), Thoubal (4), Bishnupur (10), Kakching (12), Ukhrul (14), Churachandpur (7), Chandel (8), Senapati (5), Tamenglong (8), Noney (10), Pherzawl (1), Kamjong (1) and Kangpokpi (2) .

All necessary measures like containment and contact tracing are in place.

In the last 24 hours, 261 patients were discharged from home isolation (109), RIMS (11), JNIMS (8), CCCs (76) and CHICs (57) .

The cumulative number of positive cases has reached 1,15,584 (general population - 1,11,449 and CAPF personnel - 4,135).Number of recovered cases is 1,10,602 (general population - 1,06,501 and CAPF personnel - 4,101) and number of active cases is 3,180 (general population - 3,151 and CAPF personnel - 29) .

The recovery rate is 95.69 per cent.

In the last 24 hours, 1231 D-type and 284 B-type Oxygen cylinders have been made available to different health facilities.

Only 1318 vaccine doses were administered on Sunday and the cumulative number of vaccinated individuals has reached 11,94,192, out of which only 3,67,567 are fully vaccinated.

As of Sunday, 96,898 first dose vaccinated individuals, who are eligible for second dose, are yet to be fully vaccinated.

Meanwhile, eight positive cases were detected out of 55 samples tested in Kakching district on Monday registering 14.55 per cent positivity rate.

One case was detected at Ema Hospital and seven at government RAT sites.

All are residents of Kakching district, according to DSO Kakching.

As per data maintained by The People's Chronicle based on IDSP and CCR reports, number of total cases in different districts are Imphal West (39,212), Imphal East (25,601), Thoubal (9188), Churachandpur (9762), Kangpokpi (2654), Tamenglong (3182), Bishnupur (8813), Senapati (2104), Ukhrul (2399), Kakching (6248), Chandel (2187), Noney (1041), Tengnoupal (1015), Jiribam (1010), Kamjong (749) and Pherzawl (419).Fatality counts in different districts are Imphal West (597), Imphal East (424), Thoubal (165), Churachandpur (154), Kangpokpi (56), Tamenglong (13), Bishnupur (184), Senapati (8), Ukhrul (29), Kakching (110), Chandel (34), Noney (4), Tengnoupal (13), Jiribam (7), Kamjong (4) and Pherzawl (0) .

Data analysed by this daily shows that the rate of infection remains 37,249 confirmed cases per million population (based on projected population of 31,03,000 as per NCP report) against the national average of 23,679 CPM.

Test rate has improved to 3,96,594 tests per million population against the national average of 3,80,715 TPM.

Case fatality rate stands at 1.56 per cent.

In the past 24 hours, only 1998 samples were tested and the single day positivity rate was 9.26 per cent per cent while the cumulative positivity stands at 9.39 per cent.
