Imphal, May 03 2015 :
An indefinite blockade will be imposed from 5 am tomorrow along the Imphal Moreh highway 102 .
This will be imposed by the students of of Mission Blind School, Heikakpokpi in Chandel district.
The secretary of Mission Blind School W.Angkham formally announced it on Sunday during a press conference in the Press Club, Imphal.
He said that the students' union has been demanding some facilities for the students including upgradation of the school.
However the government has not taken the demands seriously.
He said that this is the only blind school for the visually impaired students of the five hill districts in the state.
Though established in 2003 this has remained so long as the Aided school with the result that many facilities are wanting.
The government and the non governmental organisations have not extended any assistance to this school with the result that the students are facing various problems.
There are 55 students from nursery to standard eight in this school.
The school is run in a precarious way with assistances doled out by some members of public and Assam Rifles there.
The school authority has met with the chief minister several times to talk about the upgradation of the school to a full fledged one.
On October 4, 2013 the chief minister gave assurance that the school would be upgraded.
The education minister Okendra Moirangthem had assured on April 2 the school officials that the cabinet will try to take a decision in this line.
Having no alternative the students' union is imposing the blockade from 5 am tomorrow.
The students also sought cooperation from all sections of people.
