The 5th World Kidney observed today in the state too by the by the Nephrology Section of the RIMS was marked by the gifting of Microalbuminuria, Serum Creatimine and conduct of blood glucose level test free of cost to around 300 patients in the RIMS Hospital.
The main observance function was held at the jubilee hall of the institute under the theme �Protect Your Kidney, Control Diabetes�.
Head of Nephrology department of RIMS, Dr Noarem Sharatkumar talking to reporters observed that diabetes is behind causing 80 percent of kidney related health problems, 30 percent by the hypertension, 20 percent by stone case in the kidney while 10 percent by other diseases.
�So in order to control kidney problem caused by diabetes, reduction in the diabetes level is a must,� he said expressing believed that the goal of observance of the day under the theme �Protect Your Kidney, Control Diabetes� could be achieved.
In the RIMS Hospital, around 50 people are coming up for treating kidney related problems he said expressing dissatisfaction on the lack of facilities of kidney transplantation in the state even though enough experts are in the state.
He also said that RIMS is not yet able to open a department for the nephrology as it is still functioning only as a section.
Authority is trying to upgrade the section into a department.
