The OIKOS Protection Forum Ukhrul organized a One Day Consultation with the public to discuss the current situation of rights violation resulting from militarization.
The consultation particularly focused on the role of women as peacemakers, and was attended by around 90 women representatives from different locality organizations of Ukhrul and Hungpung, a press statement issued by the Social Organizer, OPF Ukhrul, W Zingkhai informed.
The consultation affirmed to continue and support the people/public's struggle against the repression and suppression of rights caused by militarization and by the application of draconian laws such as the AFSPA.
The public particularly pointed out the negation of peace and justice in various parts of the state and the region, and vowed to continue the struggle for peace and justice.
The consultation further took serious note of rights violations caused by developmental aggression, and further affirmed the need for people's participation in decision-making, the statement conveyed.
