Along with closing of the social service camp, a poster campaign launched jointly by Kanglei Economic Development Organisation (KEDO) and women vendors of Ima Keithel under the sponsorship of Social Welfare Department in connection with the patriot's Day observation on August 13 has begun today with the objective of keeping the historic market neat and clean.
The valedictory function of the social service camp cum launching of the poster campaign was attended by Social Welfare Minister AK Mirabai and MLA of Khangabok A/C O Landhoni as Chief Guest and President respectively.
DGP Y Joykumar; A Nimai Sharma, Chairperson of IMC; and Wangkhemcha Shyamjai, President of All Manipur Working Journalists' Union (AMWJU) were also present on the occasion as Guests of Honour.
During the campaign posters printed with appeals and messages from Chief Minister O Ibobi Singh and Minister AK Mirabai were put up on display in the market area to imbibe a sense of cleanliness among the vendors of Ima Keithel.
Speaking on the occasion, Minister AK Mirabai stated that the Social Welfare Department has come forward to support the move of KEDO financially to help in keeping Ima keithel and its surrounding areas neat and clean.
She further stated that in this society where work culture among the youths is diminishing, we need to revive the lost work culture once again.
The manner in which volunteers of KEDO have come up to keep Ima Keithel clean has indeed revived the partially lost mother-son relationship again.
The spirit of work culture among the volunteers of KEDO should also be encouraged by the Imas (mothers) of the society.
The spirit of patriotism should also be imbibed in the hearts and minds of the youths of this generation, she added.
Minister AK Mirabai further informed that mini-dustbins which were earlier kept in Ima Keithel but were removed due to the prevailing law and order situation would be re-installed from tomorrow.
People should make proper use of these dustbins to make Ima Keithel neat and clean.
DGP Y Joykumar, while speaking on the occasion, stated that many of the sons and daughters of Ima Keithel vendors have cleared IAS and MCS exams.
We need to keep the Ima Keitehl where the mothers of IAS and MPS are doing their business.
We need to preserve the sanctity of Ima Keithel and restore to its original form, he exhorted.
The DGP also assured that adequate supply of water would be made to the Ima Keithel from now on.
