Shyamkumar calls for developing border villages

A two-day Bharat-Myanmar Seema Chintan Bhaithak organised by Seemanta Chetana Mancha Purvottar, Manipur State came to an end today at the conference hall of Department of Art & Culture, Palace Compound.
The valedictory function was graced by MAHUD/Forest & Environment/Town Planning and Horticulture & Soil Conservation Minister Th Shyamkumar as chief guest; president of Seemanta Chetana Mancha Purvottar, Manipur State, Dr S Priyokumar Singh as president; reired Lt General Konsam Himalay, Chairperson of Manipur Public Service Commission and Prof Dinabandhu Sahoo, Director of Institute of Bioresources & Sustainable Development, Takyel as guests of honour and A Gopala Krishnan, All India Convenor, Seemanta Chetana Mancha as speaker.
Speaking at the occasion, Minister Shyamkumar asserted that villagers of the border areas who are the real people protecting the boundary should have facilities to improve their economic condition.
He said that there will be no need for protection once the villagers of the border areas are developed.
During the meet, many eminent experts delivered talks on different subjects and also discussed various issues faced by the citizens of the border areas and ways to find solutions.
There were interaction sessions between the delegates and experts as well as senior functionaries during which reports from border villages are heard and analysed to get solutions.
The sessions include training components of good workers, objectives and activities set for the organisation.
Varieties of issues came up during the discussion ranging from lack of proper road connectivity, drinking water, greater thrust as health care & educational infrastructure,' the problem of poppy plantation and means to discourage it.
Delegations from Nagaland, Arunachal Pradesh and the State attended the meet which was also taken part by Pradeepan, All India Co-Convenor, Seemanta Chetana Mancha and Manimala, North East in-charge.
It may be mentioned that the two-day Bharat-Myanmar Seema Chintan Bhaithak was inaugurated by Deputy Chief Minister Yumnam Joykumar.
