ZB against trifurcating Zeliangrong folks

The 8th Dimki session (assembly) of the Zeliangrong Baudi (Assam, Manipur and Nagaland) held yesterday at Makuilongdi village, Senapati district has decided to oppose the attempt to trifurcate the Zeliangrong people into Zeme, Liangmai and Rongmei.
A press release issued by the general secretary of the Zeliangrong Baudi (AMN) stated that various resolutions were adopted during the assembly.
Apart from the decision to oppose the attempt to trifurcate the community into Zeme, Liangmai and Rongmei, it was decided to ban all kinds of exploration of natural resources including petroleum products in Zeliangrong areas.
The Dirnki session also took serious note of the threat to the Zeliangrorig people in Assam, particularly in NC Hills/Dima Hasao district from the neighbouring community and to apprise their grievances and security concerns to the Centre, the security forces and all the authorities concerned, it added.
The session was attended by many prominent Zeliangrong leaders, students, youth, intellectuals, Church leaders, village chiefs etc from Assam, Manipur and Nagaland.
During the Dirnki session, many important resolutions concerning the Zeliangrong people in the region were also adopted and most of the vacant posts of the Zeliangrong Baudi (AMN) were filled up incumbent speaker of Naga Students' Federation, Amonbou Zeliang presided the Dirnki session, it added.
