Imphal, April 12 2018:
All Manipur Football Association (AMFA) is likely to face contempt of Court in connection with a memorandum issued by Registrar of Co-Operative Societies on March 22 and expulsion of 9 teams from the Manipur State League 2017 on April 6, said Kh Bankim, the spokesperson of Manipur State League Participating Teams' Forum (MSLPTF) .
Speaking to media persons at Manipur Press Club, where key functionaries of the forum including K Chungneithang Chiru, secretary in charge of FC Zalen, Y Ranjit, M Subash and other members of the forum, Th Bankim said that they asked AMFA to table financial statement of accounts for the last 20 years.
In case any financial irregularity is detected, an FIR will be lodged and the forum would see that all the culprits are awarded befitting punishment.
The forum would also urged the registrar to constitute and Adhoc committee before electing permanent executive council members of AMFA so that AMFA's normal activities can be carried out without undue disruption.
On being enquired if the forum ever suggested AMFA to avoid relegation of teams in the 12th edition of Manipur State League, Bankim said that they never made such suggestion and added that it was a false propaganda.
In response to an appeal of the forum submitted on October 22 last year for a join meeting and parawise comments on the forum's charter of demands, AMFA came out with a memorandum which was totally contradictory to the spirit of the forum's appeal, Bankim said.
Its time for AMFA to start due preparations for election of new office bearers as per Article 27 of its constitution .
It is a matter of deep concern that no players from the nine suspended teams were called for formation of the State team.
AMFA knew very well that none of these teams had any authority to prevent its players from responding to AMFA's invitation for trial and selection but AMFA acted in the interest of only a few teams, he alleged.
He further questioned AMFA's inaction on its own general body resolution which suggested for reconciliation and settlement of the existing imbroglio.
Alleging that AMFA is embroiled in massive financial irregularities, Bankim said that they have been demanding AMFA's balance sheets for the past 5 terms.
Some people have been abusing AMFA's authority even after Registrar of Co-Operative Societies issued a memorandum on March 22, he alleged.
He said that AMFA did not send documents related to transfers of players for the years 2016, 2017 and 2018 to AIFF in time.
