Court fixes final hearing for uncle killer on August 24

Session Court Imphal West has fixed August 24 for the final hearing in connection with the ongoing trial against Khulem Jiten for killing one ofhis uncles and injuring another.
The Court also cancelled a bail which was earlier granted to him.
Oh July 31, a non bailable warrant of arrest was issued by the Session Court Imphal West and the Court had fixed today for the execution of the warrant.
As per the directive of the Court to the 10 of the case to formally arrest the accused, who has been lodged in judicial custody from August 6 in yet another case of murder, from Sajiwa Central Jail.
On getting information that the accused would be produced before the Session Court for the trial in connection with the June 20, 2015 incident when he shot and killed his uncle and injured another, a large number of family members and locals of Naoremthong Khulem Leikai gathered at Cheirap Court complex from around noon.
Heavy security arrangement was made by Imphal West, district police before the accused was brought up to the Court complex.
Khulem Jiten (41) s/o Khulem Kendrajit of Naoremthong Khulem Leikai, was brought by a team of Lamphel PS under very tight security and then taken inside the Court room.
During the hearing of the trial case, two prosecution witnesses (number 1 and 3) were cross examined and the defense counsel of the accused prayed for closing the defense witness examination and hence the defense witness examination was closed by the Court.
The order passed by the Court today cancelled the previous bail granted to Khulem Jiten as well as the bail bond and surety bond.
The Court also remanded the accused to judicial custody till August 24 .
When Khulem Jiten was brought out of the Court room, the angry locals tried to attack him and threw water bottles and slippers at the accused.
However the police personnel took Jiten inside a bullet proof vehicle and sped away from the Court complex.
