Coalition for Indigenes Rights Campaign (CIRCA) organised a poster campaign at Khwairamband Keithel today, in connection with the coming 72nd Manipur Independence Day on August 14.Volunteers of CIRCA carried out the poster campaign at Shamu Makhong in the afternoon and the posters carried message about 72nd Manipur Independence Day on August 14 as well as the insignia of Pakhhangba Pakhan.
Speaking to media persons, CIRCA women wing executive member RFC Tharaksana said that on August 14, 1947, Manipur gained independence from the British Empire and on the same day, the Pakhangba Pakhan was hoisted.
CIRCA began observing the day from 2016 at Sana Konung with titular king Leishemba Sanajaoba hoisting the flag of Manipur kingdom.
Today's poster campaign has been organised in light of the coming observation, she added.
She claimed that nowadays Manipur is reeling under immense hardship under the Indian Government but for a time, during 1947 and 1949, the people and the State were briefly able to experience freedom.
