Nippon Foundation donates medical kits to CM CRF

Imphal, July 08 2021:
Nippon Foundation, Japan donated 100 Oxygen concentrators and 100 pulse oximeters through Manipur Tourism Forum to the Chief Minister's COVID-19 Relief Fund (CM CRF) to support the state government's effort in tackling the COVID-19 pandemic.
Founder president of Manipur Tourism Forum (MTF) Dr Thangjam Dhabali, Imphal Peace Museum director Haobam Joyremba, MTF president Kh Krishnan and vice-president P Kunjabihari handed over the oxygen concentrators and oximeters to CM N Biren at the latter's secretariat office in the presence of principal secretary (health & family welfare) V Vumlunmang and health services director Dr K Rajo.
On receiving the supplies, Biren expressed gratitude and thanked Nippon Foundation and said that the equipment would be helpful in dealing with the deadly waves of the pandemic prevailing in the state.
The CM also conveyed gratitude to teachers and staff members of Thambal Marik College, Oinam for donating their one day's salary amounting to Rs 2,70,130 to the Relief Fund.
Meanwhile, a statement of MTF informed that Nippon Foundation, which has been instrumental in setting up Imphal Peace Museum at Nambol donated the medical equipment worth around Rs 3.8 crore.
MTF has been closely associated with Nippon Foundation and Sasakawa Peace Foundation, and has been working together for the last five years.
The concentrators were donated taking into account the increasing demand for oxygen during the second wave of the pandemic as well as to commemorate the second anniversary of Imphal Peace Museum held on June 22 .
The materials were dispatched from Tokyo on June 21 and received in India on June 22 .
Sustainable Environment and Ecological Development Society (SEEDS), an NGO based in Delhi received the materials at Delhi airport on behalf of MTF.
In a letter to the CM, executive director of Nippon Foundation Ichiro Kabasawa expressed hope that the items donated would benefit the people of Manipur and Covid patients in particular during the hard hit pandemic times.
He hoped that the people of Manipur would accept this gesture and wished the people of Manipur.
Dr Dhabali also expressed his gratitude to Nippon Foundation for the gesture.
Imphal Peace Museum director Haobam Joyremba said that the concentrators received as donation from Japan are of High Medical grade equipment with the provision for backup power supply system on its own.
In case of power failure the machine could keep on its operations without affecting and interrupting the supply of Oxygen.
