Bandh against blackout affects Tamenglong

Tamenglong, October 04 2013 :
The 24-hour total bandh called jointly Zeliangrong Youth Front and Zeliangrong Students' Union, Manipur against failure of the Electricity Department to resume power supply in Tamenglong district went off peacefully.
However, normal life in the district came to a grinding halt on account of the bandh with all shops and markets, schools and institutions and government offices remaining shut down completely.
All the inter and intra district passenger services also remained halted today even as movement of public and vehicles in Tamenglong district headquarters and other parts was strictly restricted by bandh supporters.
However, there were no reports of any untoward incidents during the course of the bandh.
It is worth mentioning here that the electric current which went off since 26 August 2013 has not resume till today, thereby affecting all works needing electric current defunct.
In the meantime, Zeliangrong Youth Front and Zeliangrong Students' Union Manipur have expressed gratitude to all for their cooperation and support during the bandh.
The spokesman of the two bodies has informed that ongoing agitation will be intensified as planned if the state government and the concerned department fail to solve the problem.
