Man thrashed by candidate's workers: AMMOCOC

All Manipur Muslim Organisation Co-ordination Committee (AMMOCOC) denounced the thrashing of one Makakmayum Yahiya Khan (32) son or late Fazul Haque of Lilong Leihoukhong allegedly by workers of a candidate in Keirao A/C .
In a release, AMMOCOC publicity secretary MA Helim Shah said that Yahiya Khan went to drop Makakmayum Nawas Sarif (24) and Khutheibam Nawas Sarif (27) of Kyamgei Mayai Leikai to their home in his i-20 car (white) bearing registration number MNO IAS 4970 around 9.45 pm on February 2 .
He was beaten by a group of people who came in two Gypsy and a Thar with 'escort' in their vehicles near Kyamgei Thongkhong.
The car driven by Yahiya was also damaged, he continued.
It is unfortunate to witness crime and violence in election instead of working in democratic ways based on development, MA Helim said, while observing that the election in Keirao A/C is moving towards communal contour.
AMMOCOC will not remain a silent spectator if such violence recurs, he maintained, while urging not indulge in communal acts in other constituencies also.
While strongly condemning the beating of Yahiya Khan, the publicity secretary demanded authorities concerned to arrest all those involved in the crime within 48 hours and punish them accordingly to the law of the land.
Moreover, the alleged candidate should also help in bringing out the perpetrators.
AMMOCOC along with CSOs, clubs and organisations will take up further course of action if their demand is not fulfilled within the stipulated time, he cautioned.
