67 personalities conferred Nongpok Ningthou Panthoibi Award

The year-long silver jubilee celebration of Panthoibi Cultural Research Centre concluded at Lamyanba Shanglen, Palace Compound here today.
The valedictory function of the year-long silver jubilee celebration was attended by titular king of Manipur Leishemba Sanajaoba as Chief Guest, Director of Arts and Culture Dr K Sobita as President and Functional Manager (Handicrafts) of Commerce and Industries S Birendra and Padmashri L Nabakishore as Guests of Honour.
In his address, Leishemba Sanajaoba observed that recognizing the contribution of all the people who are working for the welfare of the society and its people is essential as this would encourage them to work harder.
Unfortunately, there is a habit among the people to deride and pull down any promising individuals instead of encouraging them.
We need to support such individuals and this would be to the betterment of the society, the titular king said.
On the occasion, 67 personalities from different walks of life were honoured with Nongpok Ningthou Panthoibi Award in recognition of their contribution to the society.
Social worker Thounaojam Iboyaima and exponent of Thang-Ta Leitanthem Heramot were honoured with Hidam Bidur Memorial Nongpok Ningthou Gold Medal Award, 2011.The award has been donated by family members of Bidur, who was a Cabinet Minister.
Among other recipients of Nongpok Ningthou Panthoibi Award, Manipuri film actress Longjam Ongbi Lalitabi was presented Nongpok Panthoibi Presto Film Award, 2011, body builder Nepram Kishan was presented with Nongpok Ningthou Presto Sports Distinguished Award, 2011, film director O Gautam was honoured with Nongpok Image Film Award, 2011 .
