Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) in Meghalaya has opened a call centre to solicit views from the public in order to bring about a direct connect between the people with the policy makers in the state assembly.
Informing newsmen about the call centre with numbers 8771906251 and 873190625, the leader of the opposition Conrad K Sangma said on Wednesday that the decision to use the latest technology aims at making the legislators from the opposition bench equipped to air the right perception of the people on developmental issues.
"This is a mechanism to make the peoples' voice reach the assembly through us", stated Conrad K Sangma, even as he added that the initiative is to provide the deprived peoples' grievances to be felt in the state assembly.
"Their voice will be translated through the various legislative assembly formats and procedures", stated the leader of the opposition while announcing the party initiative to use technology as a tool to make the masses voice reach the policy makers.
Disclosing about the initiative to gather the peoples' voice of concern on varied issues confronting their interest, sub divisions and districts, Conrad Sangma stated that the inputs will be compiled in a software and they will be systematically listed out on a priority basis.
The call centre will be activated from Thursday till next Wednesday in between 11 am and 7 pm, the computer savvy opposition leader also said while adding that his party wanted the rural population to be more responsive.
The budget session of the state assembly begins on March 9 and it will conclude on March 23.However, the NCP is not happy with the number of days listed for the upcoming budget session.
