Imphal, August 14 2011:
The Ministry of DoNER has approved the proposal of constructing 300 buildings for schools which do not have proper building under the six Autonomous Dis-trict Councils of Manipur.
Information received from the State Planning Department said that the 300 approved school buildings would be spread across the six ADCs at 50 buildings each.
The school buildings would be constructed in ten phases at the rate of five buildings in each phase.
The Planning Department has already prepared and sent the necessary DPRs for the 300 school buildings to the DoNER Ministry.
Although the DoNER Ministry has approved the proposal, no sanction has been made yet.
The DoNER Ministry has sought necessary documents which can certify that the 300 schools do not have proper buildings.
DoNER Ministry demanded the no-building certificates as the school buildings could have been built from other sources, even if these schools did not have proper buildings previously.
It is estimated that construction of five school buildings in the first phase would cost Rs 12.96 crores.
It has also been specified that construction of the five school buildings should be completed within one year.
Once the no-building certificates are submitted, DoNER Ministry would sanction Rs 12.96 crores for the first phase, conveyed a source while speaking to The Sangai Express.
