Manipur gets highest number of gallantry medals

Imphal, August 14 2011:
Deputy Inspector General of Police (Range-I), i/c Senior SP Imphal West District L Kailun (IPS), Additional SP Bishnupur district Ishak Shah (MPS) and Deputy SP (Vigilance) Lisham Ibobi (MPS) are among 930 police personnel decorated with gallantry and other service medals on the eve of Independence Day.
The Government of India on Sunday announced President's Police Medal for gallantry to seven personnel, and Police Medal for gallantry to 95 personnel, President's Police Medal for distinguished service to 93 personnel and Police Medal for meritorious service to 735 personnel.
The maximum number of gallantry medals, 26, have been earned by the personnel and officers of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) which has deployed almost 60,000 troops for anti-Naxal operations in the country.
The CRPF is closely followed by Manipur Police with 24 gallantry medals and other five service medals getting the highest number of gallantry medals among the state police force of all the Indian states.
With 21 police personnel selected for 24 gallantry medals, Manipur has 26 police personnel selected for police medals this year.
Out of the 26 police personnel of the Manipur Police Department who has been selected for gallantry medals, one got the President's Police Medal for Distingushed Service, four got Police Medal for Meritorious Service while 21 got Police Medal for Gallantry.
Out of these, DIGP (Range-I), in charge Sr SP, Imphal West district L Kailun, Additional SP, BPR Ishak Shah, Inspector RK Tejbir and SI, S Gopendro have been selected for Police Medal for Meritorious Service.
DSP (Vigilance) Lisham Ibobi was selected for President's Police Medal for Distinguished Service.
Inspector, M Sudhirkumar, SI, P Sanjoy, SI, B Lunthang Vaiphei, Inspector G Thaingampou, SI, K Boby, Havildar, G Gingouthang, Havildar, M Ingocha, Rifleman Md Hasan Ali, Jemadar, D Robinson, Jemadar, L Bikramjit, Havildar, Daiho Pfokhreho, Rifleman, P Ramesh, Rifleman, L Jotinkumar, Constable, L Mohindro, Rifleman, Jangkholal Baite, Rifleman, Kh Kunje, Rifleman, Thongkhosei Touthang, Rifleman, D James Mao, Rifleman, Khupsuankhai, Constable, T Angte Maring and Constable, N Tomboy were selected for Police Medal for Gallantry (PMG).
Out of the 21 personnel, Inspector, Sudhirkumar was selected for 4th and 5th Bar to PMG, SI, Sanjoy for 5th bar to PMG, SI, Lunthang Vaiphei for 2nd and 3rd Bar to PMG, Inspector, Thaingampou for 1st and 2nd Bar to PMG, SI, Boby for 2nd Bar to PMG, Havildar Gingouthang, Havildar M Ingocha and Rifleman Hasan Ali for 1st Bar to PMG.
The Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India is selecting seven personnel for President's Police Medal for Gallantry (PPMG), 95 personnel for Police Medal for Gallantry (PMG), 03 personnel for President's Police Medal for Distinguished Services (PPDS) and 735 personnel for Police Medal for Meritorious Service (PMMS) from the various state police forces and CPOs of the country.
