Imphal, August 13, 2012:
Reacting strongly against the recent attacks on Manipuri students in particular and the North-East students in general at Kondhwa and Poona College, Camp area in Pune, Tangkhul Katamnao Long Imphal (TKLI) has termed the incidents as most derogatory and disgusting.
Some misguided Muslim gangsters were assumed to be behind such perpetrations which came up not long after the Muslim-Bodo clash in Assam.
In a statement jointly signed by its President Pamreiso Raiping and General Secretary Ninglum KS, TKLI warned the attackers to retract from such lowly conducts driven by communal motives as it can only evolve into a serious countrywide unrest and can be highly self destructive to them in the sense that the victims may resolve to avenge in the same manner where they constitute the majority.
The north-east people have been simmering with anger for racial prejudice and intolerance in the Indian mainland cities for a long period of time.
Recalling the tragic death of a few north-east students including Richard Loitam of Manipur and Dana Sangma of Meghalaya, TKLI categorically observed that it would be inclined to fix the entire responsibility to the communal driven attackers in case any tragic incident recur on the north-eastern people.
TKLI also appealed to the government of Manipur to take up necessary precautionary measures by discussing the issue with their counterparts where such incidents are taking place.
