Imphal, January 31 2021:
A six member team of Jawaharlal Nehru Dance Academy has left Imphal to promote Manipuri art and culture in other North East States today.
The team comprises six teachers including Sangeet Natak Akademi awardee, Guru Kamini, Ng Ranjit, Abo, Thambalngou, Birjit and Pena teacher Surjit.
JNMDA Director in-charge Pukhrambam Bilash flagged off the team from the academy's complex.
Speaking to media persons at the flag off programme, P Bilash said the team will visit Meitei inhabited places in the North-East.
The team will reconnect with the Meities in those places and promote the Manipuri art and culture among them.
Further, the team will split in three groups of two and they will visit Silchar, Cachar and Jiribam and hold 15-day workshop production programmes on tradition of Nat Sankirtan and Manipuri dance and music.
During the workshops they will teach Nat Sankirtan, Lai Haraoba and Ras.
