AR seizes smuggled timber worth Rs 2.5 crore

Imphal, January 31 2021:
Shangshak Battalion Assam Rifles seized timber worth Rs 2.72 crore from Sorde village, Kamjong yesterday.
Acting on credible intelligence, troops of Assam Rifles intercepted two trucks transporting the timber illegally from Khonglo village to Yambam in Yairipok, said a statement issued by PRO Assam Rifles.
The drivers of the truck identified as Makakmayum Abdul Iqbal and one Manoj, residents of Yairipok and the seized timber were handed over to Phungyar Police Station for further investigation, added the statement.
