5th MNCA Plate Tournament : ESU, CRAU romp to massive wins

Eastern Sporting Union (ESU), Wangkhei Palace Compound and CRAU are on a roll as they rompedto emphatic group stage victories today in the ongoing 5th MNCA Plate Tournament 2019-20.Having secured a 10 wicket win against NAPSA in their previous Group D league encounter, ESU rode on Nishikanta's prolific batting performance and Chittaranjan's fifer to notch up a huge 190 run victory against CDC, Sagolband Salam Leikai.
Opting to bat first after winning the toss, ESU piled up a huge total of 247 runs for 10 in 3.4 overs thanks to Nishikanta who was two runs shy from making a ton and Bimananda who gathered another 36 runs for the team after a shaky start.
Chittaranjan and Hemchand also collected 18 and 17 runs respectively for the team in this innings as CDC's Agu Singh, Robin, Ramesh and Geerish all shared two wickets each while L Maheshkumar earned a wicket.
Chittaranjan then scalped two of CDC's wicket including an opener on cheap runs before claiming three more tailenders to finished with best figure of 5/13 in 7.4 overs which include a maiden.
With early damage done by Chittaranjan, the Sagolband side retired at 57 for 9 in 27.4 overs handing ESU a huge 190 run victory.
W Nanao, Th Nishikanta and Ch Mehul also claimed a wicket each.
Nishikanta who shone with 98 runs and picked up a wicket was named man of the match.
Kh Dennis, Kala help CRAU post 252 run victory against YWC, Patsoi Elsewhere in a Group B League match of the tournament staged at Model Hr Secondary School and Oriental College playground, CRAU, Khamnam Bazar overwhelmed YWC, Patsoi by 252 runs for the second win in a row.
Having won the toss, CRAU elected to bat first and stacked up a massive total of 306 runs for 8 in 40 overs and restricted YWC on 54 all out in 24.2 overs for the big win.
Kh Denis produced a brilliant knock of 97 runs off 66 balls for the team and Amitkumar who was with him for the first wicket stand added 33 runs to set a strong foundation.
CRAU were on 187 for 3 in 22.5 overs with the loss of Dennis and but scoreboard keep ticking with Kh Bimol (14), A Rakesh (28) before Takhellambam Kala scored an unbeaten 50 off 46 balls to help the team cross 300 run mark.
Wakonthem Ashishkumar, Thoudam Amiel Chumthang and Khangembam Rocket of YWC picked up two wickets in this innings before their chase slumped to 54 runs.
Johnson and Ashish with 14 runs in their name were only players who could register double digit scores for the team as 5 players fell on ducks and others with paltry scores.
Kala who shone with an unbeaten half century stole the show in this innings picking up 6 wickets alone to win the man of the match accolade while Yohenba enjoyed a three wicket haul.
T Nikhil also had a wicket in his name.
