Apropos to the 'Sengdokchaba' published in certain dailies in January 26 and 28, 2021 as a response to the diktats imposed on Hindi films/songs by the banned organisation RPF/PLA, the Manipur Police Department has reminded that publishing such ideologies, diktats and programmes of underground organisations facilitate prejudicial activists of the 'extremist' organisation.
A press release issued by PRO, "Manipur Police Department said that such publications compromise with the freedom and independence of the media house concerned and violate the standard of journalistic ethics and professional responsibilities.
A Press Council of India (PCI) report on Punjab and Jammu and Kashmir in January 1991 terms coercing newspapers to publish such diktats or press notes as "gravest assault on the freedom of the press, which is one the surest guarantors of democratic and plural society," the police said and appealed to all the dailies concerned to exercise due caution and adhere to the norms of journalistic conduct issued by the PCI in letter and spirit.
