3 hurt in bomb attack

Imphal, November 17 2012:
At least three persons including two salesmen and the owner of an iron store sustained injuries when unidentified miscreants hurled a hand grenade inside a shop at New Checkon under Porompat police station today.
The bomb attack took place at around 1:30 pm at Sudhir Iron Store.
The three persons who sustained injuring in the bomb attack have been identified as Shikander Shah (37), s/o Chaodhuri Shah of Bihar but presently staying in a rented house at Majorkhul; Lakshmi Shah (37), s/o Barti Shah of Bihar, who also is presently staying at Majorkhul and Athokpam Babudhon (58), s/o late Tonjonbi of Keishamthong Thangjam Leirak.
Shikandar Shah is said to be the owner of the iron store and the other two are salesmen.
Shikandar and Laxmi suffered injuries in the bellies while Babudhon sustained injuries on both his legs.
The injured trio was first rushed to Public Hospital for treatment.
From there, they were later shifted to Shija Hospital.
Soon after the report of the bomb attack reached, a team of Imphal East District Police arrived at the spot and carried out extensive search operation.
According to police report, two unidentified persons coming on a Honda Activa stopped in front of Sudhir Iron Store and hurled the hand grenade inside the shop.
The assailants fled the area soon after the attack.
Meanwhile, another bomb exploded at Nongpok Keithelmanbi Sambrei Lamkhai area in Yairipok at around at around 5:30 am today.
The bomb was believed to have been planted to target security personnel.
According to police report, the bomb went off soon after a security convoy passed the area.
No one was hurt in the blast.
