Naga bodies for resolving part-time lecturers' issue

Taking serious note over the crippling impact of the ongoing cease work strike of the part time lecturers in the normal functioning of the higher secondary schools in the hill districts, various Naga bodies have set different deadlines to the government for resolution of the impasse.
Tangkhul Katamnao Saklong (TKS) has informed that the ongoing cease work strike of the part time lecturers has paralysed Ukhrul Higher Secondary School and Tolloi Higher Secondary School for the last many weeks.
In a statement signed by its President YS Yangmi Khapai, TKS has asserted that the demands of the part-time lecturers for a definite basic pay scale and regularization of service are genuine.
The government should do the needful on or before November 20.In case of failure, the government should be responsible for any eventuality.
In another statement, President of Students' Union, Tolloi Higher Secondary Academy Kahorngam Vasgum expressed apprehension that prolonged cease work strike of the part-time lecturers may create difficulty in covering the syllabus in time.
The student body demanded resolution of the issue latest by November 18 and warned of taking recourse to agitation in case of failure.
The Principal of Tolloi Higher Secondary Academy and Talui Katamnao Long have also submitted memorandum in this regard to the Chief Minister setting November 18 as the deadline for resolving the issue of part-time lecturers.
Talui Village Authority, however, has set November 21 as the deadline for ensuring right to education to the students.
Meanwhile, Zeliangrong Students' Union, Longmai Area has informed that Tengkonjang Higher Secondary School too has remained totally paralysed following the cease work strike of the part-time lecturers .
