Imphal, September 15 2012: Manipuri Diaspora of Bengaluru yesterday hosted a Dinner Get Together with a view to thank all those who helped the Diaspora during the trying times in the month of August 2012 .

The Get Together was graced by Jyothiprakash Mirji, IPS, Commissioner of Police; Dr.V.Ramakantha, Manipur Liaison Officer, T.Sunil Kumar, Additional Commissioner of Police and five Deputy Commissioners of Police of Bengaluru city including V.S.D'Souza, IPS and B.R.Ravikante Gowda, IPS, DCP Central, who had played a pivotal role during the recent crisis.

Among the Diaspora Jangkholen Singson, President of Kuki Students' Organisation and Convenor of Bangalore North East Forum; Joy Mahung of Tangkhul Students' Union; Potsangbam Omprakash, President of Manipuri Meitei Association of Bangalore, who had played a key role during the recent crisis were present at the function.

The Diaspora was also represented by Senior Manipuris currently working in different professional areas such as IT, Medicine, Banking, etc.

Major (Retd) Rajkumar Jhaljit Singh welcomed the guests, and on behalf of the Diaspora expressed gratitude towards the police force of Karnataka, especially Mirji and his team for doing an exceptionally great job in instilling confidence among the people of Northeast who chose to stay back when there was en masse migration of people happening.

He also appreciated the community representatives for their efforts and supports to calm down the situation.

Jyothirprakash Mirji, in his speech narrated the efforts made by the police force in ensuring that the myth created by the rumour is laid to rest and truth prevailed.

For three continuous days and nights, he said, police force had to work often foregoing food and sleep.

He reiterated that Karnataka would remain peaceful and welcomes people from all across the country, and everyone should feel safe and secure here.

He also appreciated the gesture of inviting the police personnel for a dinner; as such interactions go a long way in establishing positive relations.

The evening was reverberated with excellent music rendered by the talented duo, Chitrakishore & Arunkumar.
