Imphal, September 23 2018:
Claiming that the Masjid in Ukhrul was not built illegally, AMMUCOC has cautioned that not a piece of land cannot be compromised in construction of the Ukhrul District and Session Court.
Addressing the media persons at a press meet held at its Hatta office today, AMMUCOC president, SM Jalal said that the land was allotted for construction of the Masjid in 1995 after completing all the formalities by the Revenue Department and with the approval of chairman and headman of Rayotang (place where the Masjid is).
The PIL filed by the president of Ukhrul District Bar Association, Wakham Jimik at Manipur High Court to cancel the allotment is very unfortunate, he said.
Questioning if the issue was raised intentionally to create communal disharmony in the State, he asserted that issue can be solved amicably without the involvement of Court.
He also requested the State Govt to look into the matter so as to avoid any unwanted incidents in the future and added that the shifting of Masjid won't happen in any condition.
On the other hand, AMMUCOC lauded the State Govt for arresting the culprits involved in the lynching of Farooque recently and suspending one Sub Inspector and terminating 4 VDF personnel.
He further lauded the State Govt for their threadbare discussion at Jiribam to implement and ordinance against mob violence/culture.
